Happy Customers!
Photos and kind words from
our friends.
We have
a number of binders full of old Studio Jeweler’s newspaper
advertisements from our 30 year history. Many of them
feature the stories of our happy customers. We’ve revived
the tradition here, we hope you enjoy it!
We strive to do our best in all we do, if you think we’ve
done a great job, please let us know!

Shari
and Dale were in today to pick up Shari’s ring, designed
around a pink topaz a relative of hers had brought back
from Brazil. Pink is one of Shari’s favorite colors, and
she knew when she first stopped in to see us that she
wanted it set in a ring. She worked work designer Whitney
Robinson, who’s designs she was inspired by for being
practical yet artful. The result was this gorgeous
“Beloved” variant in 18K white gold, perfect for this sweet
couple.

Happy
Customers Jane and Paul were a joy to work with. They
celebrated their marriage in style with a hand-forged
floating bezel ring from artist Stephen Vincent and a
flash-mob style ceremony in downtown Madison. We wish them
many fun-filled years together and look forward to seeing
them again soon!
-------------------------------------------------------
Jane
M. happily shows off her new Alex Sepkus ring, which shows
off her center diamond just beautifully. This is Alex’s
“Criss Cross” ring mounting, and while we have seen it here
at the store set with colored stones, it was a treat to see
how great it looks with a diamond!
-------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations
to Phyllis and John, who begin their 25th anniversary year
with a new setting for Phyllis' sapphire and diamonds.
Hanna worked with Phyllis on a new setting for her
beautiful gemstones, resulting in this curvy ring designed
just for her finger. We wish the happy couple many more
happy years together!
-------------------------------------------------------
Congrats
to David and Lynn on their engagement! The happy couple
stopped in recently to have Lynn’s ring checked and cleaned
and were happy to let us snap their picture for our
webpage. Lynn’s ring features 3 low-set diamonds cradled in
rose gold, a look we just love!
-------------------------------------------------------
Dear
Hanna-
We would like to thank you and your staff for the special
attention paid to us while choosing our wedding rings. They
offered us their advice and expertise, and gladly answered
all of our questions. We were married on July 13th, 2012,
and the rings were absolutely perfect!
My ring was designed by Katherine Aberle and my husband's
was designed by James Binnion. Because mine is rose gold,
we chose to have his ring designed with some rose gold as
well. It is a perfect match! I've attached a few pictures.
Thanks again for your excellent service.
Sincerely,
Susan & Paul

We
tend to not like to rush things here at the Studio, but if
we are told of a dire deadline, we’ll try our best to come
through. Alex and Carolyn are an example of things just
falling wonderfully in place. After we’d previously been
able to help Carolyn find a neck chain, the couple stopped
back in to see us one thursday, looking for an engagement
ring. They worked with Victoria to select the perfect
diamond and ring to set it in, letting us know they’d need
it by Friday because she would be moving that weekend. It
needed some adjustments, but our goldsmith Chris was able
to get the materials he needed shipped in overnight so he
could set the stone and have the ring ready the next day.
When they stopped in to pick it up Friday evening, they
were all smiles. After he placed the ring on her finger,
those smiles got even bigger. Congratulations and best
wishes to this happy couple!

A
Studio Jewelers client recently showed us this locket,
which had been given to her grandmother Stella as a child
in 1915. Stella's two cats, whose names have been lost to
the mists of time, are immortalized within. According to
family lore, the photographs were taken by Stella's mother,
an amateur photographer. Thanks to K. for letting us share
this!
-------------------------------------------------------
In our email inbox today:
“Greetings Studio Jewelers,
I just want to shoot you a brief email to express our
satisfaction and gratitude with you all for the experience
of buying an absolutely wonderful engagement ring from
Studio Jewelers back in the fall. My fiance loves the ring
and I don't think she's taken it off since I proposed to
her. We're out in Washington D.C., but plan on buying any
anniversary rings from you in the future!
All the best,
M”

They
haven’t been back in for us to snap a photo, but Ella &
Ryan sent us this gorgeous hand-crafted card that Ella
made. We had a lot of fun working with them to create a
perfect ring for Ella, based on one of the designs we have
in Steve Vincent’s ring collection here at the store. We
all want to send Ella and Ryan our best wishes on their
engagement!
-------------------------------------------------------
We
had a lovely visit from a mother and daughter duo at our
latest Gallery Night. They were looking at rings, and it
turns out Mom was one of Hanna’s first customers. Above is
a ring Hanna made in 1981, back when her store was on
Patterson Street, behind Burnie’s Rock Shop. Mom recounted
how she had passed the window, and “really liked the curvy
jewelry” she saw inside. She had one of the stones from a
ring of her mother’s set into one of Hanna’s signature
Mobeus rings, and though well loved, we think it still
looks great!
-------------------------------------------------------
Sandra
and John were all smiles when they came in to pick up
Sandra’s pendant. Hanna Cook-Wallace
custom
designed this lovely piece to cradle Sandra’s collection
of heirloom diamonds, combining three generations of
memories into one lovely pendant. Hanna enjoyed
discussing a shared love of fine wine while initially
working with Sandra and sketching the design, and we
look forward to seeing this happy couple at our next
opal & wine event!
-------------------------------------------------------
Ryan
and Andrea were all smiles after picking up their ring,
featuring the rich purple sapphire that Ryan had chosen
from our wide selection of gemstones. After deciding on the
sapphire, he realized we had far too many excellent choices
of rings to set it in. After proposing to Andrea with the
sapphire, the happy couple came back to Studio Jewelers to
select the ring to set it in. As you can see, on Andrea’s
hand is a lovely white gold bypass-style ring, custom made
to fit her lovely oval sapphire, which is accented by two
diamonds on either side. We wish them a lifetime of
happiness together!
-------------------------------------------------------
“Dear
Studio Jewelers,
The pictures of our wedding cakes, which were decorated to
match our rings, are attached. Of all the other decisions
we had to make when planning the wedding, the rings were
the easiest. The moment we saw them we knew we had found
the perfect rings for us. Please pass our thanks onto Alex
and his craftspeople for creating such wonderful works of
art :)
-Lucie and John D.”
(Thank you so much, you two! Alex Sepkus’s business partner, Jeff,
said he and Alex really enjoyed seeing these photos, as
did all of us here at Studio
Jewelers!)

Becky
stopped in this summer, knowing she wanted a family ring.
She had some ideas, and was able to sit down with
Whitney
Robinson, who helped her bring her
ideas into form. Birthstones of her grandson,
granddaughter, and son were sapphire, garnet, and
diamond; but she didn’t want the typical colors of “red,
white, and blue” that a stone mix of those types
generally brings to mind. Thankfully, sapphire and
garnet both come in a huge range of colors, and Becky
chose a lovely orange sapphire which complemented
rhodolite garnet. The diamond was a family stone, and
each gem was bezel set to make a stack of bands in rose,
white, and yellow gold with a brushed finish.
Congratulations Becky, we hope the set brings you much
happiness!
-------------------------------------------------------
We
all really enjoyed working with Sara and Jason as they
chose their wedding rings. Originally looking for some
simple metal bands, Sara fell in love with
Studio
311’s
“Water Lilies” ring with accent diamonds. Her ring
nicely complements the band that Jason chose, made of
titanium with a brushed finish. We hope they stop in
often to visit Eli and the rest of us, and we wish them
a wonderful life together!
-------------------------------------------------------
From one of our Facebook
friends-
“Dear Eli and fabulous folks at Studio Jewelers,
Last month my father asked for my help to get an
anniversary present for my mother. I came to Studio
Jewelers with a budget and an idea. Hanna helped me pick
out a green garnet stone and lovely setting. Yesterday, in
Florence Italy, my father presented her with the necklace,
thanking her for 30 wonderful years together. I wanted to
thank you for helping us make this happen. Your work is
very much appreciated.
Amelia E.”

To
celebrate her birthday, Patty and her husband stopped in so
she could take home this lovely pair of Alex Sepkus earrings. She had fallen for
them on a previous visit here. The magic of Alex’s work
weaves a spell. We’re glad these lovely earrings will
fill your heart with joy, Patty, and hope you had a
lovely birthday!
-------------------------------------------------------
Paul and Sue were
celebrating their anniversary the day they stopped in
to pick up the lovely custom ring that
Whitney Robinson
had made for
them. A wide band variant of “Augusta”, one of Whitney’s
signature styles, features Sue’s 3 diamonds. The couple
recently moved to Madison from out of state, we’re very
happy they found us!
-------------------------------------------------------
Congrats
to Colin and Cathy on their engagement! The happy couple
found Studio Jewelers and the work of Maeve Gillies online.
Cathy chose the lovely “Sanday” ring from Maeve’s designs,
and we helped her find the perfect princess-cut diamond to
be set in it. They said they’d seen our smiling customers
on this very page, and we’re happy to add them to our
always growing list of Happy Customers!
-------------------------------------------------------
Eli made
fast friends of Matthew and Nancy when they stopped in
to the shop on a sunny saturday afternoon. Nancy was
visiting from out of state, and had heard about our
collection of Alex Sepkus’ work. On the way in to the
store, the sparkle of a special ring in the window
caught her eye. After trying on a number of pieces,
she asked about the one that had beckoned her as she
came in, a lovely 3 diamond ring in white gold. After
trying it on, and deciding it was hers,
Matthew
also found what would be his ring, a band custom
crafted for him by artist Stephan Vincent. We look
forward to seeing this happy and fun couple again on
their next visit to Madison!
-------------------------------------------------------
Sarah
and Matt are a very sweet couple who fell in love with the
work of designer and goldsmith Whitney Robinson
on their
first visit to Studio Jewelers. Sarah loved Whitney’s
“Augusta” ring, but was also inspired by the look of
another ring in Whitney’s collection that is set with 2
stones. Whitney worked with the couple, helping them
choose the diamond and a perfect color sapphire to be
put into a variation of the “Augusta”. Whitney said she
really enjoyed working with the couple through the
creative process, and we think the finished product
looks just wonderful on Sarah’s hand.
-------------------------------------------------------
Becky and
Patrick stopped in recently with baby Oliver. These
happy customers followed the advice we like to give,
that our customers should stop in occasionally to have
their rings checked and cleaned. We had fun chatting
with them while Hanna cleaned and checked Becky’s
rings, and found that they now live in LA, where they
write for television. While we should tell you about
his Mokume Gane ring, and her diamond band that curves
to go with her vintage engagement ring, we think the
real jewel in the photo is baby Oliver. :)
-------------------------------------------------------
Susie and
Jeff have given Hanna
Cook-Wallace’s “Big
Swirl” diamond ring it’s forever home. Susie was all
smiles when she stopped in to pick it up.
-------------------------------------------------------
Jessica
and Josh came in to shop for a ring after seeing a number
of things that they liked here on our website.
Stephen
Vincent’s designs
appealed to them, among others. When shown a selection
of his work, they let us know they liked some aspects of
a few of his styles, but neither was “the ring”. After
we gathered their ideas of what they liked about a
number of different rings, we contacted Stephen. He
designed a ring around their stone, a beautiful
princess-cut green sapphire, and was able to render
CAD-CAM images to show what their ring would look like
before he made it. They were all grins when they picked
up their custom designed ring, and we wish them a happy
future together.
-------------------------------------------------------
Candace
says she always has loved our newspaper ads, especially the
ones featuring the work of Alex Sepkus. She came in
for our Sepkus Trunk Show in September, and after
browsing the cases displaying all the work, she spotted
the ring she loved in the last row. While it was on
display in red gold, she ordered it for herself in
platinum, set with sparkling white diamonds. When she
picked it up today, her new ring reflected her
excitement and her wonderful smile, which made all of us
have happy grins as well.
-------------------------------------------------------
Janet
is a friend of Eli and all of us
here at Studio Jewelers. She fell in love with a
multi-strand necklace of faceted zircon beads in a
dazzling mix of colors. She loves that Eli helped to
string the necklace, which he’s modeling in a close-up
shot from that day. We all think the strands look much
better on Janet, who happened to wear the perfect outfit
for it when she came in to pick it up.
(Eli says
you need to wear it the next time you come to visit him,
Janet!)
-------------------------------------------------------
Mark
and Joan had their rings designed and made here at Studio
Jewelers by artist Whitney
Robinson. Mark
originally stopped in with his daughter, who helped him
pick out Whitney’s “Crossroads”
ring, which he proposed to Joan with on Valentine’s day.
The happy couple came back in this June to again work with
Whitney on matching wedding bands. Whitney had a lot of fun
working with them, and was able to incorporate Mark’s many
design ideas into a band for him that would be a masculine
version of “Crossroads”,
with the emphasis being more about texture and depth.
Joan’s wedding band included a ruby, Mark’s birthstone, to
be joined with her diamond which is also her
birthstone.
-------------------------------------------------------
We
want to wish our friends Sara and Ralph congratulations as
they celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary! The couple
stopped by after taking in the show “Wicked” at the
Overture Center recently. Knowing his wife well, Ralph
picked out a beautiful boulder opal pendant with a natural,
irregular surface to show her. She loved it, and was
wearing the perfect outfit to complement it’s colors. When
they left, Sara had on her new pendant. We wish them many
more happy years together.
-------------------------------------------------------
Jared
and Jing are a wonderful couple who utilized their ability
to customize their rings here at Studio Jewelers. They
liked Stephen
Vincent’s floating
bezel solitaire engagement ring, but really wanted a
different stone to feature in it. We were able to help
them find a beautiful blue buff-top sapphire, which they
had Stephen set into that ring style. They also chose
wedding bands hand-crafted by artist Dmitry Pavlov
in red gold.
Jared had his band set with blue and teal sapphires to
complement Jing’s engagement ring, and she chose white
diamonds for her accent stones.
-------------------------------------------------------
Eli loves
his new friend Anna! She stopped in to pick up her
project; 3 sparkling heirloom diamonds, which she had
us reset in a new ring. It turned out beautifully, and
we hope it will be passed along for generations to
come!
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
Alan and
Kerry found us online and liked our selection of rings
so much that they drove up from southern Illinois to
visit us (and also to buy some cheese). Kerry, who
works in the medical field, brought in her own latex
glove to "field test" ring styles, looking for low set
stones. She found a number of rings that she loved,
finally deciding on a lovely hand-engraved ring
by Dmitriy Pavlov
in rose gold.
Alan choose a Mokume Gane ring by James Binnion
for
himself.
-------------------------------------------------------
Amy and
Lynn worked together with Whitney Robinson
to design
Amy's engagement ring. Having an aquamarine was very
important to Amy, and we were able to gather a
collection of them for her to choose from. Whitney set
the lovely stone in her "Beloved" style ring in white
gold. Lynn proposed to Amy here at Studio Jewelers when
the couple came in to pick up her finished ring. He
later chose a flat-profiled Mokume Gane ring from
James Binnion
for his
wedding ring. Congratulations to a wonderful
couple!
-------------------------------------------------------
J.T. and J.J.
from Madison stopped in today and were thrilled to find us.
They raved about our awesome selection of wonderful
designers, and excellent selection. She told us she had
"spent hours online, searching the whole country" for
unique rings, "and then we found your website!" Happy to
not have to travel out of state, they selected a band for
him from Katherine Aberle, and he bought her a fiery yellow
sapphire ring. We're always thrilled when kindred spirits
find us, right in their own backyard on Regent Street. (We
hope to add a photo when they stop in to pick up his
ring!).
-------------------------------------------------------
David came
in one day with an idea in mind for a ring that he
wanted made for Patrice. Working with
Hanna
Cook-Wallace, he selected
2 stones, a diamond and sapphire. His design came to
life, to the delight of all involved.
-------------------------------------------------------
Joanna H.
writes, "Studio
Jewelers Ltd is by far a jewelry lovers PARADISE. They
feature beautifully crafted UNIQUE designs from artists
both local and far. You can't help but be amazed at all the
beautiful hand-crafted work on display. I have had the
pleasure of meeting both the owner and employee's and have
had nothing but exceptional customer service. Not only
would they gladly show their designs, they explained how
the gem was formed or what process was needed to obtain
such a color or luster. Enjoyable and educational! I will
be sure to stop in again soon!"
-------------------------------------------------------
Kelly L.
looks great adorned with her new ring, designed
by Hanna
Cook-Wallace. It's 22K
gold and combines new and old with her beautiful diamond
and a stunning fire opal.
-------------------------------------------------------
Monica W.
writes, "Studio
Jewelers went above and beyond to find a piece of jewelry
that was right for me. They took the time to listen to what
I was looking for and had great suggestions for me. They
never made me feel pressure to purchase anything but I
ended up buying all of my bridesmaids jewelry from them b/c
the pieces were so personalized and unique. I will
definitely be back again with all my
friends!"
-------------------------------------------------------
David and
Elizabeth are a beautiful, artistic couple who came in
and fell in love with Alex Sepkus' work. Alex
was able to set Elizabeth's diamond in one of his
signature rings, and the sounds of joy when she opened
the ring box were wonderful to hear.
-------------------------------------------------------
Diane
writes, "I went to
Studio Jewelers after calling other jewelers in town trying
for a hard-to-find item: a small, rose gold hoop earring.
Other jewelers brushed me off (one even told me to go to a
department store!), but Studio said they thought they could
find one to order in their trade catalogs. I only said I
MIGHT drop in, but the next day when I came, staff members
had already searched in response to my call and had marked
several possibilities in the catalogs. When none seemed
right, they offered to construct the earring for me in time
for the date I needed (five business days). The difficult
earring was completed and beautifully made. The goldsmith,
the staff members, and the woman who I believe was the
owner were wonderful. The jewelry on display was gorgeous
and original, and I plan to go back for shopping and
possibly more made-to-order."
-------------------------------------------------------
Whitney
remembers Patrick coming in to Studio Jewelers one snowy
winter day when hardly a soul was out and about. Wonderful
smiles tell of the happiness Alex and Patrick share
together. Alex's diamond is set in a Jabel engraved ring,
with an engraved wedding band by Kiwi Gold beside it.
Patrick wears a Mokume ring by James
Binnion.
-------------------------------------------------------
Rebekah and
Bill stopped in recently to share some of their photos
from their wedding and to tell us how much they love
their Studio 311
wedding
bands. They both have “Infinity Knot” bands, set with
sapphires. We enjoy seeing them once in awhile when they
stop in on their way to a Badger football game.
-------------------------------------------------------
Yvonne
brought in her diamond to have us reset, and after ooohing
and aaaahing her way through our cases, started to give us
a picture of what design elements she liked. One of the
rings in artist Tom Dailing’s collection
really appealed to her, and he was able to fashion a
custom ring featuring her center diamond, accented with
yellow diamonds along sides.
-------------------------------------------------------
Mike and
Anya, are another beautiful couple that we really
enjoyed working with. They worked with designer and
goldsmith Whitney
Robinson, who crafted
her "Beloved" ring to set their stone in, and later
created a matching wedding band. Mike chose a classic
wedding band from Diana for himself.
-------------------------------------------------------
Alex and
Cara are a wonderful couple, and have been lots of fun
to work with. Alex worked with us for a ring to set
his diamond in, deciding on a Alex Sepkus “Martini”
mounting in yellow gold. After proposing, he and Cara
came in to select their wedding bands from Alex Sepkus’
collection; hers in platinum and his in red gold. We
think their rings look as splendid together as they do!
-------------------------------------------------------
Dear Hanna,
I wanted to tell you personally how wonderful I think my
new rings are! I always thought the old ones were lovely...
but these are simply in an entirely different league! They
are simply exquisite. In fact, I am positive that the small
changes you made in thickness, etc actually made the ring
set even more beautiful than before. They feel wonderful to
slip off and on and they sparkle for days after they've
been cleaned.
Even more stunning to me is the perfection of the
craftsmanship. Everything is so perfect - in alignment,
stone size/placement, and fit together of the bands that I
am just awed! I rarely used to wear my wedding rings alone
and I find that I do so much more often these days...they
stand alone so beautifully now.
I can't emphasize strongly enough how happy I am that we
worked with you. Your humor, kindness, patience and amazing
skills made the experience and results exceptional for us.
We are looking forward to many years together!
Warm regards,
M.H., Madison
-------------------------------------------------------
Dear Hanna,
B. and I want to thank you so much for all your
awesome-ness! You really genuinely cared that our wedding
rings were right. It was great to receive such personal and
human care and attention in a world that doesn't put value
on those qualities-especially in business! Also, thank you
for all the yummy organic goodies. We had a little mini
Honeymoon at Sundara spa so your treats were well enjoyed
there! Our wedding day (Sept. 12) turned out perfect and
was the best day of our lives. And we have these great
rings and a great story of the jeweler behind them that
we'll always remember. Thanks for being part of our story.
Many blessings and continued success,
C.W. and B.B.
